Connecting with the Hangouts app

If the Jive Connector for Hangouts is enabled in your community and you have a Google account, you can use Hangouts to make phone calls and video chats with community users directly from Jive. You can make phone calls with one community user or video chat with one or several community users at a time.

1. You'll start a Hangouts phone call or video chat differently depending on where you are in your community.

   Option	Description
   To start a Hangouts phone call	Click in the user's profile or hover card.
   To start a Hangouts video chat from a user's profile or hover card	Click in the user's profile or hover card.
   To start a Hangouts video chat from a Jive place	Select Actions > Start Hangouts.
   To start a Hangouts video chat from Jive content	Under App Actions, select Start Hangouts.
   To start a Hangouts video chat from the Apps menu	Select Apps > Jive Connector for Hangouts and click Launch the App.
   To start a Hangouts video chat from the Create menu	Click and select Create Hangouts.

2. Select the Jive community user(s) you want to connect with by entering their names in Find Participants or by clicking Directory and selecting from the list.
   
   
   
   Note: Place members and content collaborators are automatically added to your Hangout. Click the X next to the name of any user you want to remove from the Hangout.
3. Click Start a Hangout.
   Note: You may be prompted to sign into your Google account.
   Attention: If this is the first time you are using Google Hangouts, you may be prompted to install the Google Hangouts browser plugin. Your Hangout will automatically start as soon as the plugin is installed.
